Introduction:
Siemens is investing more than $165 million across North and South Carolina to strengthen support for the rapidly growing AI and data center markets in the United States. The newly expanded facilities will help meet record demand for data center-related electrical equipment while significantly increasing Siemens’ domestic manufacturing capacity.
Features:
The expanded facilities will accelerate the production, assembly, and delivery of critical low- and medium-voltage electrical products. From protection and automation devices manufactured in Wendell, North Carolina, to busway systems produced in Roebuck, South Carolina, these solutions form the essential electrical infrastructure required to scale AI data centers and AI factories across the country.
These investments are part of Siemens’ broader commitment to U.S. manufacturing expansion, which now totals nearly $700 million over the past several years. Previous investments include new and expanded electrical product facilities in Pomona, California, and Fort Worth, Texas.
In North Carolina, Siemens is expanding its presence with two new all-electric, carbon-neutral facilities. In Raleigh, a newly developed 131,000-square-foot facility will create 100 jobs by the end of the year and will manufacture Siemens’ integrated power delivery solutions. These prefabricated systems help reduce on-site installation time for critical power infrastructure, enabling data center operators to bring new capacity online more quickly.
In Wendell, Siemens is establishing a new 101,000-square-foot facility to localize the production of medium-voltage protection and automation devices, generating 50 additional jobs. Furthermore, the company’s Electrification and Automation U.S. headquarters in Wendell will expand switchgear manufacturing operations, creating more than 200 new positions by 2028.
In South Carolina, Siemens is launching a new 120,000-square-foot facility in Spartanburg dedicated to lighting panel production and distribution operations. Additionally, the company’s existing Roebuck facility will undergo a 22,000-square-foot expansion to significantly increase busway production capacity and enhance fabrication capabilities. The upgraded site will include a new paint line, epoxy line, and expanded plating line. Together, the Spartanburg and Roebuck facilities are expected to create 150 new manufacturing jobs in Spartanburg County.
