SPS – Smart Production Solutions Guangzhou to relocate to Shenzhen in 2027

16 September 2026

Smart Production Solutions Guangzhou, a key event within the international SPS – Smart Production Solutions network, will be renamed SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen and relocate to Shenzhen in 2027. The next edition will take place in 1 – 3 September 2027 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. The move will keep the fair within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), allowing it to carry forward the audience, industry relationships and reputation built over 17 years as a leading meeting point for automation suppliers and buyers in South China. From Shenzhen, one of China’s leading cities for high-tech manufacturing, it will join the annual Formnext Asia Shenzhen, as well as the biennial PCIM Asia Shenzhen, to form a co-located platform for advanced manufacturing technologies. The platform will bring together complementary exhibition and conference content across smart and digital automation, additive manufacturing and power electronics.

Serving manufacturing markets across the region and throughout Asia, the fair will continue to cover core automation components such as sensors, drive systems and intelligent controls, together with integrated production solutions for sectors including automotive, new energy, 3C electronics and engineering machinery. The fair will also leverage its established automation expertise and industry resources to support key growth areas in Shenzhen’s manufacturing sector, including new energy vehicles, the low-altitude economy and embodied intelligence, with coverage of automation technologies used for handling, inspection, assembly and material movement.

A new home in the Greater Bay Area

Shenzhen offers several major advantages for the exhibition as it strengthens its coverage of these emerging sectors. By moving to Shenzhen, the exhibition remains within the Greater Bay Area while gaining closer proximity to a city with a high concentration of robotics, smart hardware, sensors and precision equipment manufacturers.

In 2025, Shenzhen ranked first among Chinese cities by total industrial output, with industrial companies above the RMB 20 million (USD 2,943,000) annual revenue threshold recording RMB 5.44 trillion (USD 800 billion) in output and RMB 1.32 trillion (USD 194 billion) in industrial added value.[1] The city has major production capacity in communications equipment, semiconductors, electric vehicles, batteries, drones and medical devices, all significant application areas for automation technologies. These industries are characterised by rapid R&D, small-batch trial production and repeated product iteration, and their concentration in Shenzhen provides a strong local base for the fair’s established, application-focused coverage of industrial automation. Local policy also supports intelligent manufacturing, robotics and artificial intelligence, with measures to promote wider use among manufacturers and upgrades to high-end equipment and intelligent production technologies.

A shared setting for automation, additive manufacturing and power electronics

Following the move to Shenzhen, SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen will take place annually alongside Formnext Asia Shenzhen, with PCIM Asia Shenzhen joining them in alternating years, as part of a co-located platform for advanced manufacturing technologies. In 2027, the platform will also feature an international power electronics summit presented by PCIM Asia Shenzhen. For their 2027 editions, the co-located fairs are projected to cover a combined 60,000 sqm, featuring more than 800 exhibitors.

This arrangement will give exhibitors more opportunities to reach buyers and technology users across automation, additive manufacturing and power electronics, while enabling visitors to access related technologies across the co-located fairs through a single registration. This combined coverage will support applications in fields including embodied intelligence, new energy electronics, electric mobility, smart terminals, smart home products, smart medical equipment and 3C manufacturing.

The platform will cover industrial automation, smart production, sensing technologies, motion controls, industrial robotics, industrial software and smart production line solutions through SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen; additive manufacturing and 3D printing equipment, materials, software, post-processing solutions and services through Formnext Asia Shenzhen; and power electronics technologies and applications in power conversion, energy management, industrial systems, rail transportation, intelligent motion, electric vehicles and renewable energy management through PCIM Asia Shenzhen.

SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen, Formnext Asia Shenzhen and PCIM Asia Shenzhen are each part of wider international event families, connected with established parent shows in Europe: SPS – Smart Production Solutions in Nuremberg, Formnext in Frankfurt, the world’s leading trade fair for additive manufacturing and industrial 3D printing, and PCIM Expo & Conference in Nuremberg, a leading global event for power electronics.

SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen will be co-organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition Co Ltd, Guangzhou Overseas Trade Fairs Ltd and Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH.
