BRMi to Teach Robotic Process Automation at JMU

22 January 2019

CHEVY CHASE, Md., Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- BRMi is partnering with James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to create a student learning path for the technology known as robotic process automation, or "RPA." The course, "Robotic Process Automation," is being taught through the university's unique collaborative learning program, JMU X-Labs. The initial offering begins in spring 2019.

Robotic Process Automation will cover a variety of business and education applications for RPA as well as the means and methods to intelligently optimize work performance by having humans work with robots across an enterprise from a central, end-to-end platform. Students will have hands on experience using industry leading tools from UIPath to enhance the learning process.

When asked about the class, JMU X-Labs Founding Director Nick Swayne said, "This is an exciting opportunity for students to be on the leading edge of a disruptive technology that is poised to impact our economy. Preparing students to embrace capabilities like RPA, in a unique learning environment, is core to the mission of JMU X-Labs." BRMi Senior Director and course instructor Trevor Brown said, "I'm thrilled to be helping these aspiring professionals. JMU X-Labs classes are a powerful medium for practical education. It's all about going beyond expectations and really investigating problems holistically. RPA is the future and it's happening now."

BRMi's founder and President, Mike Battle, added, "this class is part of our corporate commitment to our community and fulfilling the need for advanced education for our future technology workforce. RPA/IA converge technologies to dramatically elevate business value and competitive advantage for government and commercial customers. We'll be helping JMU students solve real problems in the marketplace, learn real skills, and be ready to make an impact in the professional workforce as automation experts."

BRMi is an official industry partner of the awarding-winning JMU X-Labs. BRMi develops and delivers RPA and intelligent automation solutions to effectively automate tasks, streamline processes, increase employee productivity and deliver more satisfying customer experiences. RPA bots (the software mimicking human activity) handle routine and mundane rules-based business processes cost effectively and quickly.

JMU X-Labs collaborates with distinguished government and industry organizations that give transdisciplinary student teams real-world experience. They invite industry professionals to submit real problems to be included in their curriculum.
