ABB offers Innovative Integrated Energy and Asset Management as Software-as-a-Service

20 October 2020

ABB today announced an easy-to-use Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution for its global customer base that offers application-specific asset and energy management to reduce operational costs by up to 40%, as well as a new state-of-the-art gateway for cloud connectivity for integration of low- and medium-voltage environments.

ABB AbilityTM Energy and Asset Manager
The new SaaS ABB AbilityTM Energy and Asset Manager provides application-specific asset and energy management. Users can view and analyze data on facility performance and manage assets to optimize energy consumption in real time and improve overall site efficiency.

With instant access, anytime, anywhere the new solution is suitable for small and midsize factories, shopping malls or data centers, and could save customers up to 30% on their energy bills and up to 40% on maintenance costs.

Andrea Temporiti, Head of Digital at ABB Electrification, said: “By providing real-time data and analytics across applications on a single interface, ABB AbilityTM Energy and Asset Manager will make it easier than ever for customers to make better decisions and reduce their operational costs, creating business value across their infrastructure.”

The SaaS ABB AbilityTM Energy and Asset Manager offers the same functionalities as the well-known ABB Ability™ EDCS and ABB Ability™ Asset Health for Electrical systems MyRemoteCare, but with simplified access to all functionalities through a single dashboard interface. The new SaaS offers flexibility for users to make online upgrades to the software and access other subscription-based services through the ABB Ability Marketplace™. Services can easily be added or removed at any time.

The new ABB AbilityTM Energy and Asset Manager cloud solution is also part of the free SaaS offer that was announced early 2020. The two current energy and asset management solutions, ABB Ability™ EDCS and ABB Ability™ Asset Health for Electrical systems MyRemoteCare, will be phased out early 2021 but no changes to the customer’s site setup will be required.

ABB AbilityTM Edge Industrial gateway
The new ABB AbilityTM Edge Industrial gateway is a powerful control-management tool that simplifies the existing E-Hub 2.0 gateway. The new Edge gateway gathers data from field devices as well as environmental parameters (temperature, water, gas) and feeds the data to the ABB AbilityTM Energy and Asset Manager interface. Users can monitor all downstream devices from the cloud via ethernet cable, with modules for Wi-Fi or cellular connection available as optional features.

The new gateway integrates low- and medium-voltage environments and offers an
offline monitoring functionality with a direct connection to the local network and a local data storage. It will be available for the market at the start of 2021.

“ABB AbilityTM Energy and Asset Manager, along with our new gateway offering, delivers a user-friendly, intuitive experience that brings together the best of our connected electrification solutions while meeting the same high security standards of all ABB offerings,” Temporiti said.
