30 September 2023

Valmet has been entrusted with the delivery of a Valmet DNA Automation System to the Jylkkä substation in Kalajoki, Finland, as a component of Destia's comprehensive turnkey project. Remarkably, this marks the first instance of the construction of a synchronous condenser aimed at stabilizing the primary grid in Finland.

The order for this project was incorporated into Valmet's orders received during the second quarter of 2023. The precise value of the order remains undisclosed, and the automation system is scheduled to be handed over to the end customer by March 2025.

Lassi Saarinen, Design Manager at Destia Oy, expressed enthusiasm about this innovative green transition initiative, stating, "This is a very interesting new type of green transition project for Destia. We are happy that a Finnish company, Valmet, was selected as a supplier of the automation system."

Tom Bäckman, Sales Manager in the Automation Systems business line at Valmet, emphasized the significance of this delivery, noting, "This delivery is significant for Valmet, and an important reference for similar plants in the future. The Valmet DNA Automation System will be utilized for monitoring and controlling operations at the Jylkkä substation."
