OMRON Invests in SALTYSTER's Embedded High-Speed Data Integration Technology

OMRON Corporation is pleased to announce that it has agreed to invest in SALTYSTER, Inc., which possesses embedded high-speed data integration technology. OMRON's equity stake is about 48%. The completion of the investment is scheduled for November 1, 2023.

Lately, the manufacturing industry has continued to be required to improve further its economic value, such as quality and production efficiency. At the same time, it is also necessary to increase the social value, such as energy productivity and the job satisfaction of its workforce. This has complicated the issues that customers face. In order to carry out production that achieves both economic value and social value, it is necessary to visualize data from the manufacturing site that changes at intervals as small as one-thousandth of a second and to optimize control across multiple facilities. As DX in the manufacturing industry progresses toward solving these issues, there is a growing need to collect, integrate, and analyze enormous amounts of data quickly.

OMRON has been creating and providing a variety of control applications that utilize high-speed, high-precision control technologies to collect and analyze customer site data and resolve issues. SALTYSTER, which OMRON invests in, has a high-speed data integration technology that enables high-speed time-series integration of equipment data related to manufacturing facilities. In addition, OMRON has expertise in control equipment and other manufacturing sites and embedded technology in various facilities.

Through this investment, control data generated from OMRON's high-speed, high-precision control technology and SALTYSTER's high-speed data integration technology are fine-tuned together in a high-level manner. By quickly integrating data on customers' manufacturing sites in a time-synchronized way and collecting information on other companies' control equipment, people, energy, etc., it is possible to integrate and analyze on-site data, which had previously been separated by different data cycles and formats for each facility at high speed. By feeding back the results of the analysis to the equipment parameters in real-time, we will realize solutions for on-site issues that are linked to increasingly complex customer management goals, such as "realization of a manufacturing line that does not produce defective products" and "improvement of energy productivity" throughout the manufacturing site. For example, energy consumption is optimized by grasping changes in the state of equipment and workpieces throughout the entire line and adjusting the equipment parameters, or a production line that does not produce defective products is realized, contributing to reducing waste plastics and improving energy productivity.

Through OMRON's investment in SALTYSTER, OMRON aims to further enhance its corporate value by contributing to the preservation of the global environment while maintaining production efficiency and quality at customers' manufacturing sites by developing value propositions by leveraging the strengths of both companies.
