5 October 2023

Siemens has officially revealed that KORE Power, Inc., a prominent U.S.-based innovator in battery cell technology for the clean energy and electric mobility sectors, has opted for cutting-edge manufacturing software and hardware provided by Siemens Xcelerator, an open business platform. This technology will be employed in the construction of the KOREPlex, a sprawling 1,330,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility located in Arizona, which will be dedicated to producing batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems.

Siemens, a global leader in industrial automation and software, is poised to supply a comprehensive suite of digitalization and automation solutions from Siemens Xcelerator. These solutions will facilitate the digital transformation of KORE Power's entire design and manufacturing processes. Siemens' contributions will span from production design to planning and simulation, empowering companies of all sizes to streamline and automate their production processes, resulting in enhanced efficiency and safety.

This collaboration between Siemens and KORE Power highlights the shared commitment of both companies to driving innovation, achieving operational excellence, and promoting sustainability within the energy sector. By selecting Siemens Xcelerator to power the KOREPlex, this facility is poised to become a trailblazer in advanced manufacturing, setting a new industry standard while bringing battery production closer to U.S. customers and consumers.

Barbara Humpton, President and CEO of Siemens USA, expressed enthusiasm for KORE Power's utilization of Siemens' Xcelerator for their cutting-edge KOREPlex gigafactory in Arizona. She emphasized that this partnership exemplifies their shared dedication to innovation, enhancing energy storage solutions, and reshaping the landscape of sustainable manufacturing. Siemens remains steadfast in their mission to empower industry leaders like KORE Power to achieve new levels of efficiency and digitalization.

Lindsay Gorrill, CEO and Founder of KORE Power, noted that Siemens' hardware and software offerings will drive productivity and efficiency at the KOREPlex, reducing waste and providing their team with advanced manufacturing technology that stands out in the industry. In addition to automation technology, Siemens is also delivering electrical infrastructure and energy management solutions to the KOREPlex, ensuring that the future gigafactory is intelligent in every aspect. It's worth mentioning that Siemens Financial Services took the lead as the primary investor in KORE's Series A funding round late last year.

KORE Power, Inc. recently secured a conditional commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy's Loan Programs Office (LPO) for an $850 million loan under the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) Loan Program. This substantial loan will be employed to finance the construction of the KOREPlex, marking a significant step forward in the realization of this cutting-edge manufacturing facility.
