Advantech and Hailo Partner to Expand Energy-Efficient Edge AI Portfolio

15 August 2023

Advantech, a prominent AIoT platforms and services provider, is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with Hailo, an innovative chipmaker focusing on AI, aimed at broadening their energy-efficient edge AI offerings. This collaborative effort will see Advantech harness Hailo's AI accelerators to create edge AI systems and AI acceleration modules that excel in performance and offer exceptional value in terms of power efficiency. These solutions will cater specifically to compact and resilient edge AI applications, spanning areas such as factory AOI defect inspection, warehouse AMR object detection, and public parking lot management.

The array of applications for edge AI demands versatile AI computing capabilities, low power consumption, and adaptable industrial designs. Especially when integrating edge devices into robotics or autonomous systems, power efficiency plays a pivotal role in conserving battery life and extending operational duration. Hailo's product lineup includes the Hailo-8™ AI accelerator, seamlessly integrating with edge platforms and enabling real-time deep learning inference tasks at the edge, providing 26 TOPS of processing power at a mere 2.5W power consumption, all within a compact size and cost-effective package.

Advantech's forthcoming lineup includes a series of edge AI systems bundled with Hailo-8 M2 AI acceleration modules, encompassing models such as EPC-R3720, ARK-1250, ARK-3533, and EI-53, set to be launched in September and October. The partnership also extends to software services, offering comprehensive end-to-end solutions. Advantech's Edge AI software, a toolkit designed to assist customers in evaluating, developing, and deploying a wide range of edge AI applications, will seamlessly integrate Hailo's AI SDK TAPPAS, a solution verified on various Advantech hardware models.

"We're enthusiastic about joining forces with Hailo to enable scalable and highly efficient AI capabilities at the edge," remarked Aaron Su, Vice President of the Embedded IoT Group at Advantech.

"The collaboration between Hailo and Advantech underscores our shared commitment to accelerating the development of edge AI inference applications through a diverse spectrum of technologies, solutions, and services," added Su.

Gary Huang, General Manager Greater China at Hailo, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "We're delighted to extend our collaboration with Advantech, bringing efficiency and high performance to edge AI applications. Hailo takes pride in partnering with a leading entity like Advantech to leverage AI for the empowerment of various market segments, including industrial automation, security, and smart cities."
