Kollmorgen Expands Essentials™ Portfolio with New Controller and High-Voltage Capability

Kollmorgen Corporation, a global leader in motion control and automation systems, has expanded its Kollmorgen Essentials™ portfolio with the introduction of the PCMM2G Essentials controller and new high-voltage drive capability supporting up to 4 kW. These additions broaden the Essentials portfolio, enabling support for a wider range of industrial applications and motion control requirements.

With the expanded portfolio, machine builders can better align performance, scalability, and budget requirements to create complete and cost-effective motion systems that are easier to design, deploy, and scale—delivering enhanced flexibility and value.

“OEMs need the flexibility to design the right system for their machines without having to overbuild or compromise,” said Chris Cooper, Global Director of Product Management. “With the expanded Essentials portfolio, they can scale performance and cost to meet their needs with a single solution.”

Scalable Control for Diverse Applications

The new PCMM2G Essentials controller supports up to eight axes and delivers the same proven performance and integration capabilities as the original PCMM2G, while offering a more cost-effective solution for lower-axis-count applications such as indexing and basic positioning. The compact multi-axis controller enables machine builders to meet specific application requirements without sacrificing performance.

As part of a fully integrated Essentials motion system—including motors, drives, controllers, and software from a single supplier—the PCMM2G Essentials controller helps reduce system complexity, engineering effort, and commissioning time. It also integrates seamlessly with the Kollmorgen Automation Suite™, offering lifetime updates with no incremental licensing fees, thereby lowering total cost of ownership and maximizing long-term value.

High-Voltage Capability for Industrial Environments

The new Kollmorgen Essentials™ high-voltage drive extends the portfolio’s simplicity and affordability into higher-power industrial applications. Supporting 240–480 VAC three-phase input and system capability up to 4 kW, the drive aligns with standard industrial power infrastructure commonly used across North America and Europe.

This capability allows deployment in industries such as automotive parts manufacturing, logistics, material processing, and machine tools without requiring transformers or alternative power adaptations. By eliminating external power conversion requirements, the high-voltage drive improves energy efficiency and simplifies overall system design.

Overall, the expanded Essentials portfolio reinforces Kollmorgen’s commitment to making high-performance motion solutions more accessible across a broad spectrum of machine designs. From simple motion applications to demanding industrial environments, machine builders can now mix and match solutions within a single portfolio based on performance, axis count, and cost requirements.
