Yokogawa Engineering Asia is set to open a Co-Innovation Centre in Singapore to work with IT companies to develop industry solutions to boost automation process capabilities.
Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, the centre will see a total investment of S$112 million over the next few years. It is expected to be open in the first quarter of 2016.
"We are already talking with some of the major IT companies,” said managing director and president of Yokogawa Engineering Asia John Hewitt. “The theory being that the data is already there. We have the data and it’s available in our automation systems.
“Individually we can develop it but in working in partnership with experts in their field, the IT companies, we can actually develop it much faster and with a better result. We can come up with some really strong solutions that will benefit a great many of our clients.”
