Toshiba JSW Power Systems set to deliver indigenous generator to Kudgi Super Thermal Power Plant, India

Toshiba JSW Power Systems Pvt. Ltd. (TJPS) will deliver its maiden super critical steam turbine generator produced at its Chennai plant to the Kudgi Super Thermal Power Plant in Karnataka shortly. This would be followed by delivery of another set of super critical steam turbine generator to Meja Thermal Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh, a joint venture of NTPC.

The Kudgi contract is said to be one of the large-scale projects for NTPC in recent years. The order consists of delivery of three sets of 800 MW supercritical steam turbine and generator island package.

The first set was imported from Toshiba Japan, while the second set, manufactured locally, will be delivered next month.

TJPS Managing Director Yoshiaki Inayama said: “Even before the commencement of the 'Made in India' initiative, we have started focusing on India. Our quality will be the same. Our customers will get products of Japanese quality at Indian price.”
