Rockwell Automation acquires Emulate3D, a leading software developer in simulation and emulation of industrial automation systems

29 January 2019

Rockwell Automation, Inc. has acquired Emulate3D, an innovative engineering software developer whose products simulate and digitally emulate industrial automation systems. By using rigorous simulation models to improve system planning and decision making, followed by emulation testing that tests the control system before installation, Emulate3D software enables customers to virtually test engine and system designs before incur costs in manufacturing and automation and to commit to a final project.

"We are excited about the opportunities that Emulate3D software offers our customers," said Fran Wlodarczyk, senior vice president of architecture and software at Rockwell Automation. "They will have the ability to improve operational productivity and time to market by creating digital machine prototypes and virtual preparation. This transaction also marks yet another Rockwell Automation investment to make 'The Connected Enterprise' a reality. "

"As a former Encompass partner of Rockwell Automation, we have established excellent working relationships with Rockwell Automation and its customers," said Ian McGregor, Emulate3D's global sales and marketing director. "We look forward to developing these relationships under our new leadership. Rockwell Automation's installed base and our engineering software provide an excellent opportunity to better address customer needs in today's rapidly evolving, technologically advanced environment. "

Rockwell Automation will add Emulate3D technology to its digital design portfolio to deliver solutions for automotive applications, logistics, material handling and other industrial applications. The software will be sold as Emulate3D by Rockwell Automation as part of Rockwell Automation's FactoryTalk DesignSuite.
