Introduction:

Valmet will deliver Valmet DNA Turbine Automation Systems and the Valmet DNA User Interface for both units at Fortum’s nuclear power plant in Loviisa, Finland.

The upgrades to the steam turbine protection and control systems are part of lifetime extension investments to ensure reliable electricity generation.

Valmet’s technical expertise, cost-effective solutions, and strong local presence were key in securing the order. Three of Valmet’s service centres are within an hour’s drive from Loviisa.

The value of the orders is undisclosed. Turbine automation upgrades are set for completion at the Loviisa 2 reactor in October 2026 and Loviisa 1 reactor in October 2028. The training simulator delivery is scheduled for April 2026.
