Introduction:
Schneider Electric, a global frontrunner in digital transformation for energy management and automation, has unveiled plans to invest $140 million into its U.S. manufacturing operations. This investment is expected to create approximately 750 new manufacturing jobs nationwide in 2024.
Features:
Initially, the company will allocate $85 million to revamp and equip a 500,000 square foot facility in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and upgrade its current manufacturing operations in Smyrna, Tennessee. These facilities will produce custom electrical switchgear and medium voltage power distribution products to support critical infrastructure, industries, and the rising demand for data center solutions across the United States.
The Mt. Juliet plant is anticipated to start manufacturing and shipping products by mid-2024, with full operational status expected by 2025. Both plants will integrate advanced manufacturing technologies and software to enhance operational efficiency, achieve energy savings, and minimize their carbon footprint, among other advantages.
Additionally, Schneider Electric will hire 455 new manufacturing workers for both locations. Positions will include manufacturing technicians, engineers, test technicians, and quality leads, among other roles.
These investments will also contribute to the goals of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act by bolstering the domestic supply of products essential for America's electrification and clean energy transition.
