TRIG, Qair France and other partners sign a contract for the supply of the Hyd'Occ renewable hydrogen production unit

2 January 2025

The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited (TRIG), a FTSE 250 listed renewable energy infrastructure investment company, renewable energy company Qair France, and other partners, have signed an electricity supply contract to power HydOcc, the renewable hydrogen production unit under construction in Port-la Nouvelle (Aude).

This agreement allows TRIG to supply Hyd'Occ with electricity of renewable origin from TRIG's onshore wind farms located in the Occitanie region.

Hyd'Occ aims to offer a global solution for the production and marketing of renewable hydrogen and contribute to the energy transition with the development of a low-carbon hydrogen sector in the region.

Produced by alkaline electrolysis of water, low temperature, low pressure, Hyd'Occ plans to produce up to 3000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen in phase one, and will eventually become the largest French renewable hydrogen production unit and should produce 40% of the hydrogen in France.

Minesh Shah , TRIG’s Managing Director, said: “Securing attractive power purchase agreements is an important part of TRIG’s revenue management strategy. Providing projects like Hyd’Occ with locally generated renewable electricity is another step towards our ambition for a cleaner, more secure future.”

Guirec Dufour , Managing Director of Qair France, said: “ We are delighted to have established a partnership with TRIG to supply part of the electricity for the production of renewable hydrogen in the Occitanie region. Once operational, our production unit will be able to produce 3,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year.”

Nicolas Lanoue de Menthon , PPA & energy market manager for RES Services (PPA advisor to TRIG on this transaction) added: “ RES Services is pleased to have advised on this transaction and to have established a new partnership contributing to decarbonization by producing renewable hydrogen powered by local wind farms operated by RES on behalf of TRIG.”
