Allmetra has a focus on measurement and control technology since its inception and founded by Walter Burgunder as Allmetra Messtechnik as a sole proprietorship in 1968, situated in Zurich’s Seebach district of Switzerland. In 1973, he began to specialize in the production of resistance thermometers and thermocouples of all types. In view of the growing internationalization of the business, the sole proprietorship was transformed into a public limited company in 1991.

The expertise lies in measuring everything (Allmetra) using its own wide range of resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) and thermocouples, as well as through the installation and sale of transmitters and individual components.

Allmetra has specialized in the manufacture of temperature sensors since 1973, and now ranks a sone of the leading suppliers in Switzerland in terms of technological development and quality.

The company's motto is "Measurement technology made to measure". This applies to mass-produced products, and to the development of individual sensors to meet specific requirements to our quality management, our customer-oriented proposal and delivery services.

Platinum resistance thermometer (RTD) in accordance with DIN EN 60751 (class A or B) and thermocouples (TC) in accordance with DIN EN 60584 (class 1 or 2) for industrial use comprise a measuring insert within housing protected against corrosion. These housings come in a wide range of designs depending on the installation and available space, with screw connection, protective tube with screw connection, neck tube with screw connection or flange connection. The wiring of the measuring insert is often incorporated into a connection head "Form B" or "Form BUZ", from which the thermometer can be connected via a cable to an external electrical measuring device. The measuring insert and stainless steel jacket is an easily replaceable unit, which normally includes a ceramic connection base.

 

  • RTD designs: Single, dual or triple - PT100, PT20, PT1000 etc. in 2- , 3 or 4-wire designs.
  • TC designs: Single, dual or triple couples (type: T , E , J , K or N)

 

This resistance thermometer (RTD) and thermocouples (TC) are usable by default within a temperature range of -200 °C … +550 °C.

 

A test report in accordance with EN10204 3.1 is available on request for all the sensors in our range, also including, where applicable, an inspection and test plan (IT) or a certificate of compliance in accordance with EN 10204 2.1

Slot Resistance Temperature Detectors

The main purpose of slot resistance temperature detectors (RTD’s) is to measure the winding temperature within the iron package of stators or rotors. They generally feature a flat and slimline construction. Slot resistance temperature detectors are made using two methods. In the first version, a platinum resistance wire is bifilar coiled, allowing measurement over a longer stretch of the element. Alternatively, a cheaper alternative features a platinum thin-film measuring resistor (chip), although this allows only a point measurement.

 

Allmetra manufactures products of the highest quality and mainly offers the bifilar version. Depending on the available space, construction and electrical or mechanical requirements, a range of materials are used. The resistive elements can also be inserted into a hard fabric pad (HGW) and on request, this pad may also be coated with conductive lacquer for electrical protection. The scope of our everyday work also extends to HGW designs and conductive lacquer versions.

Thermocouple sensor

Thermocouples comprise two conductive wires made of different materials, which are connected at one end and which facilitate temperature measurement due to the thermoelectric effect. The voltage generated by this effect is known as thermoelectric voltage, the level of which depends on the materials used. A wide range of materials can be used (types "T", "E" , "J" , "K" or "N"). However, it is important to ensure that the connections and cables used are made of the same material as the thermocouple. The type of thermocouple can be detected based on the colours of the casing or lines.

 

Allmetra also offers thermocouples featuring stainless sheathed thermocouple lines bent into all possible contours and also equipped with fitted flanges or screw-in screw connections.

 

Thermocouples are usually used at higher temperatures of up to 1600°C.  Thermocouples generally respond to temperature more swiftly than resistance thermometers.

Cables & Plugs

The company offers with a tailored range of individual components for thermocouples and resistance thermometers (RTD).

 

This includes a comprehensive and wide-ranging assortment of protective sleeves, screw connections, connection heads, plugs, thermoelectric leads, copper cables, mineral-insulated lines etc.,

Head & Rail Transmitter

Temperature transmitters make it easy to send, for example, a 4-20mA signal from a resistance thermometer (RTD) or a thermocouple to the control unit of your choice. Various temperature transmitters are used (including ATEX-certified), such as head transmitters mounted in the connection head or DIN rail transmitters which are easy to clip into the rails in a switch cabinet.

All temperature transmitters can be supplied with programming and protocol functions.

Allmetra has partnered with INOR, which manufactures premium transmitters, for many years. We have also a very good partnership with EMERSON. Other brands of transmitters can be provided on request.
