Multinational company Larsen & Toubro’s wholly owned subsidiary L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) has secured a Rs14.83bn ($229m) offshore contract from Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for its Bassein Development 3 Well Platform & Pipeline Project in India.

Under the contract, LTHE needs to offer engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) for the project.

The EPCIC scope of the project mandates the company to undertake three new wellhead platforms, a 23km subsea pipeline, and composite subsea power cable.

In addition, the contract includes clamp-on works on an existing platform and modification work on nine existing platforms in the western offshore basin in the country.

“This contract reiterates the long-term association of L&T with ONGC in the development of offshore fields in India.”

Expected to be complete by May 2019, the project is part of ONGC’s strategy to jointly develop three small and marginal fields/blocks namely B-147, BSE-11, and NBP-E under the Bassein Development 3 Well Platform Project.

In a statement, the company said: “This contract reiterates the long-term association of L&T with ONGC in the development of offshore fields in India.

“The company’s offshore track record includes successful completion of several challenging projects for domestic and international clients.”

LTHE offers customised engineering, procurement, project management, fabrication and sea installation capabilities to the offshore oil and gas industry.

In November last year, the company was awarded a Rs12.67bn ($194m) offshore contract from ONGC for its Balance Work for Pipeline Replacement Project-4.
