Electrical engineering department of PEC University of Technology signed a memorandum of understanding for collaboration in the field of 'factory automation' with Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited under which the latter has provided 'PLC Training Equipment and Programming Software' for the mechatronics lab of the institute. The MoU was exchanged by Sanjeev Sofat, deputy director, PEC University of Technology, and Hiroki Omura, general manager, Factory Automation Centre, Mitsubishi.
Sofat hoped that the equipment provided by Mitsubishi would help develop niche skills in electrical engineering disciplines' students, and make them industry-ready. Tarlochan Kaur, head of the electrical engineering department, said a university could not succeed in isolation. It must engage deeply with industry sector and be mutually supportive. Registrar Manish Jindal thanked the visiting delegation and expressed hope for greater industry-institute interaction in the future. He said with the availability of such top-notch equipment, students could learn a lot and do wonders in their field of study.
