Industrial PC makers pushing EtherCAT-based solutions for Made in China 2025 project

Wednesday, Jul 22, 2015

Taiwan-based industrial PC makers including Advantech, Adlink Technology, Nexcom and Delta Technology have all been pushing products based on the Ethernet for Control Automation Technology (EtherCAT) standard, looking to enter into China's Made in China 2025 project.

Although the proportion of EtherCAT-based products is small in the IPC market currently, many makers still prefer the standard because of it is an open standard and they expect it to achieve a market share of over 16% in 2016.

The EtherCAT has already been selected by the China government as the standard for the Made in China 2025 project - which was launched in 2014 - and pushing related products has become necessary for Taiwan players.
